TVS Shows Preview of 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V and RTR 180 2V Before Release

TVS Motor has posted official preview clips of its new 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V and RTR 180 2V motorcycles, implying that these refreshed sport commuter bikes are on the verge of launching soon. The new bikes should appear in dealerships by the end of June, with significant updates to meet new OBD-2B emissions standards, fresh appearances, and possibly added safety and technology features.
The bikes will retain their current engine capacities - 159.7cc in the RTR 160 2V and 177.4cc in the RTR 180 2V - but will be modified to comply with India's more stringent OBD-2B emission norms. Although the fundamental engine design remains unchanged, minor tweaks are likely to make exhaust emissions cleaner and still preserve true-world riding performance. TVS may also modify slight power delivery settings to ensure maximum fuel economy as well as performance.
The teaser video reveals new LED headlights with dual daytime running lamps, which provide a more aggressive and modern look. New paint and body decals are also expected to be part of the cosmetic transformation. The motorcycles will retain their current double-cradle frame and 17-inch alloy wheels, along with telescopic front fork suspension and dual rear shock absorbers.
The biggest update can be to the braking system. Sources in the industry say that the 2025 models may come with dual-channel ABS as a standard fitment, a big safety upgrade from the existing single-channel system in the current models. The change would put the RTR 160 and 180 in sync with increasing customer needs and revised safety standards in the 150-180cc motorcycle segment.
Another major upgrade featured in the teaser is a fully digital dash, possibly with a color display and Bluetooth connectivity via TVS's SmartXonnect technology. The features would include GPS navigation prompts, phone and message alerts, riding metrics, and other features appealing to young urban riders.
In terms of performance, the Apache RTR 160 2V will still generate about 16 PS power and 13.8 Nm torque in Sport mode, but lesser outputs in Urban and Rain modes. The RTR 180 gives slightly higher readings at 17 PS and 15.5 Nm torque. Both bicycles have a 5-speed gear.
For prices, state here that the latest RTR 160 2V retails between ₹1.21 lakh and ₹1.31 lakh (ex-showroom), while RTR 180 has a price tag of about ₹1.35 lakh. Based on the expected feature additions and emission norm-compliant operations, a moderate hike of ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 seems likely.
TVS has not yet announced the launch date or full technical details, but their official teaser hints at an announcement in the future. Post-launch, these new Apache bikes will remain competitors of bikes such as the Bajaj Pulsar P150, Hero Xtreme 160R, and Honda Unicorn.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 and 180 segments have become popular due to their sporty looks, everyday usability, and price tag. TVS seems to uphold that appeal with the soon-to-be-released 2025 update by offering improved safety features, technology, and cleaner emissions without sacrificing the Apache's essence.
